Make sure you are prepared before you begin construction
Ensure you review all the content within the building permit application form and building checklists. This ensures you have a complete application.
Submit your complete electronic application, including your building permit plans and all supporting materials, including a Certificate of Title (dated within 30 days of the date of the application), in PDF format to inspections@oakbay.ca. Please include the civic address in the subject line of the email.
Staff will contact you to confirm receipt and tell you your application fee. They will then review and process your complete application.
Your building permit will be emailed to you when it’s issued, however, full payment of fees is required.

How to Schedule an Inspection
Schedule a building or plumbing inspection through:
Your issued Building and Plumbing Permit lists the inspections required to complete your permit. Please ensure you have the following information ready while booking an inspection:
1. The civic address of the building site
2. The date for which the inspection is requested
3. The type of inspection requested (e.g., foundation, framing, insulation, plumbing, final, etc.)
4. your name and phone number
Inspections are done in afternoons only. Prior to building or making changes to your home or property, please check for information regarding the use of land, buildings and structures.
