Regular Full-Time – Pay Grade 12 ($41.00 - $43.48/hour – 2024 Rates)

The Community Building and Planning Services department seeks a Planning Technician to join our team and play a vital role in guiding the development and preservation of the community. From processing land use applications to engaging with residents, you'll be at the center of impactful projects that directly influence the character and growth of the District.

The Planning Technician performs planning tasks under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Community Building and Planning Services. Responsibilities include answering public enquiries, reviewing building permit applications for compliance with zoning regulations and processing certain types of land use applications., and assembling, collating, and analyzing data.

Our ideal candidate has completed a diploma or degree in planning or a related discipline with three years of related experience, preferably in a municipal government environment, as well as experience in the use of recognized office software, including Tempest Prospero, iCompass, Microsoft Office products, Bluebeam and GIS viewers, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is considered an asset. This position is represented by CUPE Local 374.
