Firefighter's Park Parking Lot Closure
From now until July, the parking lot at Firefighters’ Park in Oak Bay will be impacted to facilitate the siting and installation of a Fire Truck Apparatus Storage Structure for the Oak Bay Fire Department. The Storage Structure is required to house the Fire Department’s new Ladder Truck which is arriving mid-June. The District’s number one priority throughout this project is to ensure the safety of all park users and first responders during construction.
During the first phase of construction, the there will be no public vehicle access to the parking lot until approximately July. Community members and park users are encouraged to carpool and drop off parkgoers, when possible.
Parking and drop off options during construction include:
- Temporary loading zones on Lulie Street and Monteith Street
- Street parking is available along St. Ann Steet, Monterey Avenue and Cranmore Street. Residential parking zones will not be enforced during this time.
- Parking is available at Oak Bay Recreation Centre (1975 Bee Street), with a scenic walk through Bowker Creek leading to Firefighters’ Park. For walking directions from Oak Bay Recreation Centre, CLICK HERE.
When the install of the structure is complete, a reconfiguration of the parking lot will include designated parking spaces for the public. We understand the disruption this causes to all park users. The District appreciates your understanding and cooperation through construction of this needed structure to house the new Ladder Truck for the Oak Bay Fire Department.
