The Oak Bay Avenue School was built in 1908 at a cost of $7,038.  After the opening of the new elementary school on Monterey Avenue in 1914, this school became the municipality's first high school for grades 9 - 12.  It was replaced by a new school on Cranmore Road which opened in 1929, but housed industrial and domestic arts classes until 1953.  It was demolished to build the present Municipal Hall in 1957.
