Fitness Drop-in Schedule (September 3 - December 20)

The Centre provides opportunities for adults of all ages to move, learn, connect, and be engaged in the community.

Discover how weekday morning and afternoon group fitness and dance classes including, Moderate and Mild Fitness, Zumba, Nuline, and Aging Backwards can enhance your health and wellbeing. Adults 50 years + are invited to participate in a selection of clubs designed for fun and interaction. This fall Clubs include, table tennis, billiards, woodcrafters, carpet bowling, ukulele, scrabble, colour your world, art clubs and more. Meet liked minded retired adults with a zest for life, activity and connection.

How does Friends of Monterey Centre support members?

Friends of Monterey Centre prides themselves in supporting their members. Annual fundraisers include the fall Bazaar and the winter Rummage Sale to raise funds. The association is always looking for gently used goods for the Bazaar and Rummage sale, please look for advertising and posters to find out when they are taking donations for each event. Financial donations are always welcome, and a Tax Donation receipt will be provided.

Code of Behaviour

Code of Behaviour at Monterey Recreation Centre

Monterey Recreation Centre is a shared environment for participants enjoying courses, clubs, drop-in activities, and volunteering. The intent of the Code of Behavior is to ensure everyone is treated fairly with respect and dignity and to ensure Monterey Recreation Centre is a safe and pleasant place for all.

The following behaviors will not be tolerated:

  • Any criminal (i.e., theft) or disruptive behaviors.
  • Any action or language that is disrespectful i.e. swearing or offensive to another’s comfort or well-being.
  • Any physical assault or threats of assault.
  • Any sexual, and/or racial abuse/slurs or harassment.
  • Any abuse of the facility and/or equipment.
  • Misuse of membership card and/or facilities.

Failure to comply with the Code of Behavior may result in being asked to leave the Centre and the possible withdrawal of membership and volunteer privileges.

Food and Beverage

Monterey Recreation Centre has a few options for you to sit and enjoy a coffee and treat or stay for lunch. Enjoy the Coffee Express or the Fern Café.

Fern Café and Garden Court

Hours

Monday-Friday: 10:30am -2:00pm

The café has a beautiful garden indoor seating area, and a roofed area indoors for you to enjoy conversation and lunch or a mid-morning treat with your friends. Fern Café offers fresh homemade salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffee, and other beverages made by our in-house baker and Chef.

Catering and Room Rentals

Room Rental availability at Monterey Recreation Centre tends to be limited due to recreation program schedules. Meeting rooms of varying sizes and fees range from 494 sq feet to 3,600 square feet with capacity from 6 to 200 people. Rentals that are in direct competition with our programs will not be accommodated. Some rooms include Wi-Fi and tv screens for presentations.

Common rentals include, strata meetings, family meetings, sports team meetings, book clubs, nonprofit meetings etc. Download the fillable pdf Room Rental Form. Once the application is complete, please email Lesley Cobus or drop off the form at Monterey Recreation Centre. 

Meeting Room rental payment is due at booking.
