The District of Oak Bay Drop Off Depot accepts recycling, composting and specialized material for Oak Bay residents. This service is free of charge with a decal and identification.
The Depot (1771 Elgin Road) is open to the public on:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m
- Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (excluding stat holidays).
On busy days, resident’s vehicles may be turned away prior to closing depending on traffic.
Who can use the Oak Bay Drop Off Depot?
Resident property owners can use the Oak Bay Drop Off Depot. Residents must display a resident decal on their vehicle when arriving. The Depot is for vehicle traffic only, no pedestrians are allowed.
Residents with a car not insured to an Oak Bay address: Provide proof through showing attendants at the yard a property tax bill and separate piece of identification on-site.
Accepted Materials
- Yard trimmings, grass and leaves
- No greater than 3″ in diameter and 3 ft. in length.
- Garbage fastened in bags
- Batteries (household)
- Small propane tanks
- Small metal objects (no fridges or freezers)
- Leftover paint, empty paint cans
- Clean plastic shopping bags
- Plastic containers
- Rigid plastic packaging
- Glass
- Corrugated cardboard (flattened)
- Mixed paper, newspaper and boxboard
- Plastic containers
- Styrofoam (no Styrofoam chips)
Not accepted: Wood, building materials, furniture, mattresses, car batteries or tires are not permitted.
