If you own or operate a business, trade or profession in Oak Bay, you must hold a valid business licence
The licence is required to be displayed in a visible location and is valid from January 1 to December 31. Find information below about applying for an Oak Bay Business Licence, how to pay and more.

Applying for a Licence
To apply for a business licence, fill out one of the application forms below:
Once completed, you can email your application, drop it off or mail it to Oak Bay Municipal Hall (2167 Oak Bay Ave). The speed of approval depends on the application and the need for regulator authorities, like Island Health, to review.
Paying for your Licence
Fees for business licences vary depending on the type of business. You can pay for your business licence and renewal:
- In-person: Cash, cheque or debit card at Oak Bay Municipal Hall (2167 Oak Bay Ave.)
- Online: By credit through our online portal
Applications made after June 30th are pro-rated. Licence fees are not refundable or transferable. Fees are reduced if the licence is for part of the year.

Other Licences
More permits or licences, not regulated by the Municipality, may be required. This could include liquor and health licences, in place to protect the health and safety of you and the community.

Paying for your Licence
The Film Industry Coordinator for the District of Oak Bay is the Manager of Recreation Program Services. They are responsible for reviewing film permit applications and issuing film permits. To apply, fill out the Application for Use of Municipal Facilities and submit it online or bring a copy to Oak Bay Municipal Hall.
