Henderson Recreation Centre serves as a social, recreational and fitness community hub for patrons of all ages and demographics. The centre is home to a full gymnasium, Weightroom, recreation rooms and a large park area.

From children’s programs, indoor court rentals, and adult exercise programs to playing golf, Henderson Recreation Centre is a gathering place where everyone is welcome and can feel at ease participating in the activity of their choice.

Henderson Recreation Centre sits on a large, developed park with many other amenities, including tennis courts, playing fields, a golf course and a jogging chip trail with a circuit of outdoor fitness equipment.

Community Park and Chip Trail

Open year round, the picturesque 1.1km chip trail and Seniors Community Park circles the perimeter of Henderson Park Golf Course located at 2291 Cedar Hill Cross Road, Victoria BC.

Includes: fourteen pieces of outdoor fitness equipment and six fitness stations. This equipment is designed for adults 55 years and older but can be enjoyed by users of all ages and abilities.

The Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists recommends that we get a minimum of 150 minutes of physical activity each week to stay healthy or to improve our health. However, it is important to progressively build the amount and intensity of your activity levels over time to minimize the potential for injuries. Start slowly… and build up.

Weightroom

Located right across from Reception in Henderson Recreation Centre, the Weightroom offers a variety of equipment for you to enjoy.

Henderson Par-3 Golf Course

The golf course is open seasonally (March through late November) and green fees are charged. Players are expected to adhere to posted rules of play and golf etiquette. The golf course is located beside the recreation centre and between the parking lot, tennis courts and the Henderson Park Playground located on Arden Road. Parking is located at the Henderson Recreation Centre.

Parking

Parking is located at the centre between the tennis courts and the recreation centre building. Parking is limited to three hours. There is a limited number of parking spots available just off Arden Road, beside the Henderson Park Playground.

Sports Fields

There are a variety of sports fields and courts available, including baseball and soccer fields near Henderson Recreation Centre. Organized field use is by permit only. Casual, non-organized use is allowed during times that the fields are not used by permit holders or closed for maintenance. The sand-based grass field is closed to use from mid-March to end of August to allow the turf to regenerate. Dogs must be on leash at all times.

Tennis Courts (Outdoor)

Voted numerous times as the number one spot to play tennis in Greater Victoria, Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture provides several court options, including indoor courts at Oak Bay Recreation Centre and outdoor courts with lighting at Henderson Recreation Centre, as well as outdoor courts at Carnarvon and Windsor Parks.

The six outdoor tennis courts at the Henderson Recreation Centre are located just to the right of the entrance to the parking lot off Cedar Hill Cross Rd. The courts are booked on a reservation system from April 1 to October 31 annually. For more information on the tennis court rentals and programs, please view the Racquet Sports page.
