Bowker Creek Brush-Up
Hampshire Road to Armstrong Road behind Oak Bay High School
Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 11, 2024, for the return of the Bowker Creek Brush-Up.
This annual free art show in Oak Bay is held on the banks of Bowker Creek. The event is an open-air gallery and sale with a mix of returning and emerging artists. Hosted by the Oak Bay Community Artists Society, the event is run by local volunteers from the society.
From potters to painters, ceramic artists, woodworking artisans, photographers, print-makers, fabric artists, multimedia artists and more – there is something for everyone’s taste, with art displayed and for sale at many price points.
“This joyful event for all ages has a wide range of artists, mediums, techniques, and colours. There is a lot to learn as every artist will be demonstrating how they create. As well, there are community organizations with information to share”, said Flo-Elle Watson, President of the Oak Bay Community Artists Society. “Every year there is something new and old favourites.”
In addition to the displays of artwork, the Bowker Creek Brush-Up Art Show offers interactive art demonstrations, Recreation Oak Bay kids’ art tent, a fundraising barbeque and community organizations to provide information and activities, as well as live music.
The event is on Bowker Creek walkway between Hampshire Road and Armstrong Avenue with parking on Hampshire or at Oak Bay High School. This art event is held every year on the second Sunday in August. This year’s event is Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
