Join us for a free presentation about Oak Bay’s outstanding natural heritage and the international recognition is has received.
Discover how gardening with native species can help further conservation by increasing connectivity between isolated natural area “islands” in an urban sea. Receive an update on the newly designated Key Biodiversity Areas in the Oak Bay area and work underway to declare the Victoria region a UNESCO Urban Biosphere Region.
Who you’ll hear from: Jacques Sirois and Wylie Thomas
- Jacques is a naturalist, birdwatcher and restoration enthusiast and has spent the last decade promoting and revitalizing the Victoria Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
- Wylie is a restoration practitioner and botanist actively involved in stewarding Garry Oak ecosystems in southeast Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
- Additionally, we invite you to meet Megan Woods, Oak Bay's new Senior Planner and Climate Action Coordinator.
