KIWANIS HENDERSON PARK PLAYGROUND REFRESH
Join the Municipality for the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for The Kiwanis Henderson Park Playground!
Get ready for the reopening with the refreshed playground equipment at Kiwanis Henderson Park Playground. Residents are invited to join members of Oak Bay Council for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the playground (End of Arden Road) on Tuesday, May 7, at 3:30 pm.
The District of Oak Bay is undertaking a playground equipment replacement program to update all of the district’s playgrounds in our Parks system over the coming years.
The first playground to be updated was the Kiwanis Henderson Park Playground. Thanks to our local philanthropic clubs for their support and for this playground, the Rotary Club of Oak Bay, supported the purchase of an inclusive wheelchair accessible piece of equipment called the “We Go Round.” This playground is the first in Oak Bay to use the Habitat Systems’ inclusive design features. New Features include the We-Go-Round, which allows children with mobility devices to roll on and off a merry go round structure, and Poured-In-Place rubber surfacing, which provides an even cushioned surface around the playground, and the Treetop style structures. Additionally, the design preserves a couple of old favourite spring horses and a traditional swing set.
The ceremony will feature a brief speaking program followed by the official ribbon-cutting. Community members can explore the park and take part in some fun activities with the Oak Bay Recreation Leaders.
