From forest fires to hurricanes to floods, emergencies have been in the news a lot lately. And it can feel pretty scary. Thankfully, communities around Greater Victoria have lots of resources, services and supports to help keep you safe.
Join UVic and the District of Oak Bay for the Safety First Fair! There will be emergency and safety services at the UVic campus so you can learn everything you need to know about emergency preparedness and safety. And we promise it’ll be fun and there will be giveaways!
A few of the attractions you’ll encounter at the Safety First Fair:
Quake Cottage
Take a ride in the Quake Cottage and experience what a large earthquake feels like first-hand! Plus learn everything you need to know about earthquake preparedness. Afterall, we are living in an earthquake zone here in Victoria.
Fire safety
Do you know how to keep your dorm room or apartment fire-safe? Do you have an evacuation plan? Learn how you can limit the risk of fire… and check out a fire truck or snap a selfie with firefighters while you’re at it.
Emergency preparedness
If you’re prepared for one emergency, you’re prepared for most of them. Learn what services are available in and around Victoria.
Volunteer opportunities
Learn how you can get give back to the community. Volunteer opportunities are available with local emergency and safety services.
