Selection of Chief Administrative Officer
The Municipal Council of the District of Oak Bay is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Helen Koning as the new Chief Administrative Officer, to replace Mr. Gary Nason who has been serving as interim Chief Administrative Officer since March 11, 2013.
Ms. Koning was selected in a nation-wide executive search process which was commenced in April. Most recently in 2012, Ms. Koning served as interim Chief Administrative Officer with the Town of Princeton, and is principal of Koning Consulting which provides a range of specialized services for local government clients across British Columbia. Her past experience includes assignments as Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Officer for five municipalities, as well as the Skeena Queen Charlotte Regional District.
Previous to commencing her local government career in 2001, Ms. Koning held various positions with the Port Alberni Home Support Association, including Administrator, and positions with the Provincial Ministry of Health and the Central Vancouver Island Health Region. Ms. Koning is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelors of Social Work and a Masters in Public Administration. She also holds a Senior Certificate in Local Government Statutory Administration from the Provincial Board of Examiners.
Ms. Koning will be commencing her duties with the District of Oak Bay on November 4, 2013.
