January 9^th, 2017

Overnight an unknown culprit entered a car port in the 1300 blk Transit Rd and stole the complainant’s daughter’s bike.  The bike is a women’s Jamis mountain bike, midnight purple in colour, 26” wheels, front suspension and a grey plastic water bottle holder. 

Several canvas paintings were found unattended at a bus stop on Cadboro Bay Rd and have since been turned over to the Oak Bay Police Department.

Sometime between January 7^th – 9^th an insecure vehicle, parked in the 2600 blk Burdick Ave, was entered by an unknown culprit.  The culprit stole a “point of sale” terminal from within the vehicle.

January 11^th, 2017

At approximately 4:30 pm a female entered the Cork and Barrel Spirit Merchants and stole items from the store.  The female was bundled up very well due to the cold weather, hence, her description is limited but she is believed to be between 45-55 years old.  The investigation is ongoing.

Due to the cold weather Police have responded to several calls involving trees falling across power lines.  In the event the tree breaks the power line always assume the line is live.  You need to stay back at least 10 metres and dial 911.  Also make sure others stay away at least 10 metres as well.

January 14^th, 2017

At 1:17 am a vehicle was stopped on Lorne Terrace with 4 occupants and a driver looked young enough to be driving on a Class 7 licence.  The driver was checked and an odour of liquor was detected on her breath.  Roadside breath tests were conducted and produced WARN readings.  The driver was issued a 3 day driving suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 3 days.  She also received a violation ticket for driving contrary to conditions (x2).

January 15^th, 2017

At 11:32 hrs a vehicle was observed a vehicle failing to stop for a yellow light at the intersection of Lansdowne Rd at Cadboro Bay Rd.  The vehicle was stopped and when speaking with the driver the officer detected an odour of liquor on his breath.  Roadside breath tests were conducted and produced FAIL readings.  The driver was issued with a 90 day driving suspension, a violation ticket for failing to stop at a yellow light, and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for 30 days.
