Citizen Budget Simulator
Citizen Budget: We want to hear from you! Thank you for getting involved.
As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and engaging with residents, the District of Oak Bay is embarking on an on-line pilot project called Citizen Budget. This citizen engagement initiative enables Oak Bay residents to provide input into how they would like to spend their municipal property tax dollars related to services and programs in our community. By using the program’s slider tools within the website, residents can increase, decrease or maintain service levels in each area and see what the impact will be on their annual municipal property taxes.
As a pilot project, Council is interested to see how many residents participate and what the experience is for residents using this tool. Data captured this year will be taken into consideration for the 2018 municipal budget. Council will also use the feedback on the user experience to determine future opportunities for this citizen engagement web-based tool.
Citizen Budget runs March 8 – March 21
