Subject: Tsunami Advisory – January 15, 2022 

There is a Tsunami Advisory for the Oak Bay area due to a volcanic eruption near the Tonga Islands. The Advisory is expected to remain in place for several hours. 

This is an Advisory only. Do NOT evacuate your home. Do NOT call 9-1-1 for updates. 

The potential risk is limited to increased tidal currents and waves near the beaches. UNTIL the Advisory is rescinded, please avoid beaches and marinas. 

Updates will be provided through Oak Bay’s social media, Alertable (for electronic emergency updates – sign up here), and this website.
