Situated on 11 acres of waterfront and advertising 57 rooms and 8 bathrooms it hosted the 1901 visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York. In 1902, It burned to the ground in a spectacular fire. It was located to the south of what is now Orchard Avenue
