Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture Announces Facility Re-opening Plan
The District of Oak Bay is pleased to announce the upcoming re-opening of some facilities, programs, and services. Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture will be taking a layered approach to the re-opening and will see facilities open and programs and services resume on the following dates:
June 15, 2020
Paddington Station Daycare welcomed children back to care at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
June 22, 2020
The Weight Room and Fitness Studio at Oak Bay Recreation Centre will re-open to pre-registered access only.
June 29, 2020
- Day camps for children and youth begin at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Windsor Pavilion and Henderson Recreation Centre
- Limited indoor fitness programs will begin at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Windsor Pavilion, Monterey Recreation Centre, and Henderson Recreation Centre
- Personal fitness training and small group circuit training will start at the Henderson Recreation Centre
- Adult wellness, fitness and art programs will begin at the Monterey Recreation Centre
- Takeout food services will start at the Monterey Recreation Centre
- The Arena at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre will open to limited lessons, private lessons, pre-registered open skates, sport skill development programs and rentals
To facilitate the re-opening of these facilities and services, several COVID-19 safety enhancements have been implemented including:
- Drop-ins not permitted. Pre-registration or reservations required
- Attendee screening for health concerns or symptoms prior to attending facilities or participating in programs
- Measures for maintaining physical distancing
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols
- Hand sanitizing stations available in common areas
- Controlled flow of patrons in and out of the facilities and program areas
Oak Bay Recreation Centre Pool
The Oak Bay Recreation centre pool remains closed while safety guidelines from industry and health authorities are being developed. We acknowledge that the pool is a valued community service and staff are working diligently to re-open as soon as it is safe and feasible.
Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture staff look forward to welcoming you back to these facilities, programs, and services in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the District continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and adjust our response as appropriate.
