Appointment: Assistant Fire Chief
The District of Oak Bay is pleased to welcome Darren Lee as their newly appointed Assistant Fire Chief.
Darren’s impressive career in the Fire Service began with the North Cowichan Fire Department, he took a full time position with the Surrey Fire Service where he spent ten years learning the trade before moving on to the West Kelowna Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Chief from 2007 to present. Darren has a wide range of leadership and management experience inside the municipal fire service as well as in the greater fire service in his active roles as an adjunct trainer with the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the College of the Rockies. Darren also has significant experience in emergency management with his roles in wildland fire fighting and was deployed to multiple locations during the recent provincial fires as well as to the flooding in the province last spring and summer. Darren has a Bachelor of Fire and Safety Studies through the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the University of Victoria.
After twenty four years in the Fire Service Darren accepted an offer to become an Assistant Fire Chief with the Oak Bay Fire Department and will begin his new duties beginning April 16, 2018
