Emergency Information
Emergency preparedness is everyone's responsibility!
Imagine a full week without electrical power, telephones, drinking water, or fuel for heat or cooking. Now imagine these conditions have been caused by a major earthquake in the middle of winter. How prepared are you?
How well we cope (physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and economically) in the aftermath of an emergency or disaster and in the days, weeks and months afterwards, is directly related to how well prepared we are as individuals, a community and as a municipality before an event occurs.
There are many steps that each of us can take to reduce our personal vulnerability to a variety of different events, to have supplies to help us be self-sufficent for a minimum of 7 days, and to become more knowledgeable about what risks we face and how to protect ourselves from those risks. If you are a business owner or operate an organization/ business, you need to have a business continuity plan. If you provide services to potentially vulnerable clients, you need to have a service continuity plan in place. If you live in a strata or condo complex, you need to have a plan for fires and other hazards.
